Fundamentals of Sports Events Planning and Organisation.
The concept of events and sports arenas goes back to Ancient Greece, focusing on a great number of changes in the last 30 years. The concepts of arenas and stadiums, globalization, the development of TV broadcast and the contribution of sport as entertainment have unleashed the need of professionalizing operations and services in an event, and the development of the concept and the management of customer experience. Depending on different cultural aspects, conditions in each continent and country, there are different approaches to the concepts related to sports events. The South American Football Confederation, as responsible for the development and leadership of football in our continent, is here to share its vision, experience and specific aspects that make sports events in South America UNIQUE. With this aim, CONMEBOL offers an initial program on sports events showing the know-how and working methods with ‘CONMEBOL DNA’. Throughout the course and in its different learning modules, CONMEBOL professionals will develop the basic principles and concepts of planning, operating, and organizing a sports event. Everything you need to know before, during and after ‘kick-off’. We will use examples based on the experiences in the competitions organized by CONEMBOL, especially the unique finals of CONMEBOL Libertadores 2019 and CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2019. We will analyze the skills any event planner should consider, the logic sequence of tasks, and basic concepts that should be taken into account to enable a successful delivery, optimizing resources and minimizing risks.
